United Arab Emirates native Khalid Al Qasimi followed architecture studies at UCL with a fashion degree at St Martins, a switch which would eventually lead to the launch of QASIMI in June 2009. Taking a break from his eponymous label for a few years, he relauches the brand for Spring/Summer 2016. Going back to his roots, the structured range fuses minimal architecture and traditional Middle Eastern dress with military costume; straight lines, long silhouettes and a cool army inspired palette making for a very specific new QASIMI aesthetic.
The rebooted label mixes luxury and technical fabrics, ranging from bonded cottons to voiles and wools, across an elongated range that references traditional Arabic dress. Switching between past and future, dramatic oversized shirts, tunics and trousers are layered in block colors for a uniform feel while parkas and bombers soften and contemporize the line. Launching this month in Paris, keep an eye on the website for the all-new QASIMI.
